Plexwood

Dutch company Plexwood specialises in veneer plywood made from different species of wood, where one or both sides of the desired core board usually have a 2.5 mm thick top layer cut from veneer pine. Mdf or plywood of the required thickness is used for the frame panels. The most typical applications are various types of fixed and movable furniture, table tops, sliding doors and wall coverings, and floors. Plexwood panels are also suitable for a wide range of special solutions, e.g. in the construction of shops or restaurants. This type of wooden surface creates an elegant, peaceful atmosphere in the room.

About the manufacturer

Plexwood veneer sheets consist of Plexwood faces and frame sheets of different species of wood, depending on the intended use. MDF or plywood is the most commonly used core board, but also, for example, HDF (high density fibreboard) is used. The thickness of the core boards is usually 12, 15 or 18 mm + 2,5 mm Plexwood layer on one or sometimes both sides of the board. However, for parquet, the top layer is 4,5 mm and the backing is 9 or 15 mm plywood. We also supply “solid Plexwood” in thicknesses of 30, 40, 50 and 60 mm, as well as 70 mm wide/6 mm thick strips, e.g. for “edge banding”, and bendable board with Triplex frame.

The most common Plexwood application, the basic board size is 2400 x 1200 mm, veneer orientation parallel to the long side of the board (also short side orientation available on request). In addition to the basic model, several impressive applications are available, e.g. Geometric patterns and acoustic panels.

Plexwood does not surface treat, but the boards are usually supplied sanded to P80 grit, without surface treatment. Plexwood boards should, however, be surface treated for better maintainability or possible damage. to achieve the necessary improved wear resistance of the surface. This is where normal wood surface treatments come into play.
